Feingold Fires Warning Shot Across Obama’s Bow

Posted on April 14 2009 by Congress Watcher

Obama’s decision to follow the Unitary Executive legal theories of the Bush Administration makes Americans powerless to stop federal government spies from invading their privacy at whim. President Obama, like George W. Bush, is attempting to place himself in a position above the law.

McConnell Says We Have The Right To Give Away Our Power

Posted on July 18 2008 by Congress Watcher

His statement during the debate over the FISA Amendments Act reveals that Senator Mitch McConnell either doesn’t know what the Constitution actually says, or he doesn’t care. Whichever is the case, Senator McConnell has proved himself to be incompetent to serve as a member of the United States Senate.

Senators Who Betrayed The Constitution

Posted on July 16 2008 by Congress Watcher

The following are the United States Senators who voted for this betrayal of the Constitution. 20 of these 69 senators are Democrats. Without the Democrats helping out, the Republicans couldn’t have gotten the FISA Amendments Act passed. Which ones are the Republicans, and which ones are the Democrats? You figure it out. I can’t tell the difference.

Last Chance To Prevent FISA Amendments Act Abuses

Posted on July 8 2008 by Congress Watcher

The FISA Amendments Act establishes the Attorney General as a spymaster beyond the reach of the law, with powers to target American citizens within the United States for political or personal reasons. Any senator who votes to approve the FISA Amendments Act may be fairly considered a traitor to the cause of freedom.

Senator Whitehouse Waffling on FISA Amendments Act

Posted on July 7 2008 by Congress Watcher

The FISA Amendments Act is corrupt beyond amendment. So, Rhode Island, it’s time to call Sheldon Whitehouse at (202) 224-2921 and tell him that you want him to defend the Constitution and vote NO on the FISA Amendments Act.

Hillary Clinton Refuses To Commit To The Constitution

Posted on July 6 2008 by Congress Watcher

The FISA Amendments Act is profoundly, thoroughly unconstitutional and anticonstitutional. It makes the fourth amendment in the Bill of Rights irrelevant, completely ignores the ban on ex post facto laws, slams the concept of equal protection under the law, and generally wrecks the system of checks and balances between what are supposed to be three coequal branches of government. So, why won’t Hillary Clinton declare her opposition to this terrible law?

Democrats in Alabama Are Furious At Barack Obama Too

Posted on July 5 2008 by Congress Watcher

Please, let’s hear no more about how Barack Obama needed to support the FISA Amendments Act in order to get the support of red state America. Voters in Alabama wanted change, and they believed in the message of Barack Obama, until they saw that Obama plans on giving America the same old dirty politics of fear that Alabamans have been stuck with for generations. Red state Americans oppose the FISA Amendments Act too, and they see through Barack Obama’s crass maneuvering to pander to the right.

Doug Heckman Jumps On The Bandwagon Without Looking

Posted on July 4 2008 by Congress Watcher

Heckman is a fool. If he had actually read the FISA Amendments Act, Doug Heckman would never say that the FISA Amendments Act clarifies anything. He would come to the obvious conclusion that the FISA Amendments Act is written in order to be unclear. The law appears to give some protections, only to take them away in separate sections of text.

Obama Refuses To Address Supporters Concerns

Posted on July 3 2008 by Congress Watcher

Byron recognizes that Barack Obama’s move away from protecting the Constitution isn’t even the most pragmatic approach to earning the votes of wayward Republicans. Republican voters, after all, distrust Big Government. Why would they be convinced to vote for Obama with Obama’s support for a Big Government spying program?

Listen To Your Supporters on FISA, Obama!

Posted on July 2 2008 by Congress Watcher

Consider that Pennsylvania is a swing state, and you start to see the serious threat that Obama’s support of the FISA Amendements Act has become. Obama activists in swing states are one by one dropping out of his campaign, withholding their money and refusing to volunteer their time. Consider that these are the people who Obama had counted on to form the foundation of his campaign.
