Though in previous sessions of Congress, John Shadegg had a high right wing score, in the 111th Congress, he couldn’t seem to muster as much extremist fervor. He obtained only a 37 out of a possible 100 right wing score, suggesting that Shadegg had become emotionally exhausted with the right wing politics that had propelled his congressional career.
Blue Dogs are like ailing wildebeest out on the African savannah who, in order to help lions tracking the herd identify them as easy to pick off, have painted a big blue X on their flanks.
Not a single Republican voted against government rationing of health care last night. Why this profound ideological shift?
A staffer with the Bob Lord for Congress campaign sent me a communication today suggesting that I might want to write a little something about how that kooky John Shadegg fella pronounces the word nuclear “nookyular”… just like George W. Arizona Republican congressman John Shadegg recently declared that “Congress can be so boring.” Before that, he had a hard time deciding whether he actually wanted to run for re-election to the U.S. Congress. Only someone determined not to see what’s happening around them could deny that America is going through profound economic suffering. Gasoline prices are up, and that means that there’s inflation for practically everything else we buy too. At the same time, work is increasingly hard to come by. New jobs aren’t being created much any [...]
The Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008, as its name implies, would begin a transition from reliance on out-of-date fossil fuels for transportation toward more efficient transportation by train. It’s exactly what we need to deal with America’s current economic and environmental problems. For some bizarre reason, almost all of the Republicans in the House of Representatives oppose it.
