Posted on November 22 2010 by Congress Watcher

Jim Jordan’s Insurance Industry Tailgate Party

Posted on September 23 2010 by Congress Watcher

Jim Jordan’s tailgate party was an invitation-only affair, and it took place in a Washington D.C. townhouse owned by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. That organization just so happened to have lobbied in opposition to the health care reform that Representative Jordan just so happened to have voted against. Now, that organization is just so happening to help Jordan raise money for his re-election campaign.

Tim Wildmon gets it right on Phil Hare and the Constitution

Posted on July 25 2010 by Congressional Aid

In a letter to his supporters dated July 2010, fundamentalist Christian leader Tim Wildmon leveled a series of charges at the feet of Democratic Party politicians, including the flamingly false accusation that President Barack Obama wanted the Supreme Court to somehow mandate vast redistribution of wealth. Tim Wildmon doesn’t have a good record when it [...]

Among them is the New York Life Insurance Company Political Action Committee, to which Carolyn’s PAC has given $5,000.

Cardin Gets it Right: Separate Abortion Riders Don’t Work

Posted on December 8 2009 by Congressional Aid

Most of the Senate debate on the afternoon of December 8 leading up to the rejection of the Nelson-Hatch Amendment was pretty predictable. The amendment itself, after all, was a near cookie-cutter copy of the Stupak Amendment that was passed earlier this month in the House of Representatives. Both amendments prohibit private health insurance plans [...]

Posted on November 27 2009 by Congressional Aid

On December 8, 2009, 4 major candidates are vying for the Democratic Party nomination for Senate in Massachusetts. Only 2 of those candidates strongly support a woman’s right to choose legal abortion. The Stupak Amendment to health care reform legislation in the House was added in order to prohibit any private insurance plan (even those [...]

Jan Schakowsky Identifies Abortion Absurdity in Stupak Amendment

Posted on November 7 2009 by Congressional Aid

Rep. Janice Schakowsky of Illinois stood in the floor of the House of Representatives this evening to speak against the health care bill amendment offered by fellow Democrat Bart Stupak of Illinois.
