Posted on May 18 2012 by Congress Watcher

The Anti-Gay Democrats Of the House of Representatives

Posted on May 11 2012 by Congress Watcher

There are still many people in Congress who are dedicated to standing against equal rights for gay and lesbian Americans. Among the anti-gay politicians voting for this week’s bill of anti-gay bigotry were 16 congressional Democrats, named in this article.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Refuses To Meet With Iowa Occupy Protesters

Posted on January 2 2012 by Congress Watcher

Instead of granting a brief meeting with Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Democratic National Committee called the police to haul the Occupy protesters away. That should serve as a clear statement to the occupation movement that the Democratic Party is not going to be a useful vehicle for their ideals.

New York Liberals Organizing Against Kirsten Gillibrand

Posted on December 21 2011 by Congress Watcher

A strong liberal alternative to Kirsten Gillibrand is running for Senate. Dr. Scott Noren is running on a platform of ending corporate personhood, representing the ideals of the Occupy Wall Street protest, reducing military spending, and creating a nationwide ban on hydrofracking.

Liberal Protesters Target Susan Davis For Support Of Arbitrary Imprisonment

Posted on December 20 2011 by Congress Watcher

Susan Davis, and far too many of her Democratic colleagues in Congress, have forgotten their oath of office – to defend the Constitution, from enemies both foreign and domestic. The National Defense Authorization Act is in opposition to the authority of the Constitution. Susan Davis had a duty to vote against it. She failed in that duty.

Pro-Business? No Republicans support bill supporting Manufacturing in the USA

Posted on August 12 2011 by Congressional Aid

The Republican Party frequently is supposed to be a pro-business party, but what’s most notable about recently introduced pro-business legislation is the total lack of Republican support for it. H.R. 1912 (introduced by David Cicilline in the House) and its counterpart S. 1457 (introduced by Kirsten Gillibrand in the Senate), would shuffle money not to [...]

Ban On Mercenaries In America’s Wars Proposed In House and Senate

Posted on July 31 2011 by Congress Watcher

With the Republicans in control of the House of Representatives, it’s even less likely that the Stop Outsourcing Security Act will be passed and signed into law. However, the need is even greater than it was last year. Last year, there were 22,000 mercenaries hired by the USA in Iraq and Afghanistan. This year, there are more than 28,000.

Kathy Hochul Moves To Protect Americans From Drilling Pollution

Posted on July 26 2011 by Congress Watcher

Not one Republican voted in favor of Kathy Hochul’s spending cuts to bring accountability to the Bureau of Land Management. As much as the House Republicans talk about bringing spending under control, they chose to block action on Hochul’s spending reduction amendment.
