The head-in-the-sand resistance of politicians like Michael Arcuri to action on climate change is only helping out-of-date industries that gain their profits through the preservation of dirty, inefficient energy technologies that were invented a century ago.
There are no carbon capture and storage technologies that are ready to work on a viable scale. Right now, these technologies Rick Boucher pretends are real are nothing more than problematic science fair projects.
Congress still needs to ehar the message more clearly from us: Coal is not, and never can be, a clean source of energy. America must do better than to rely on this dirty, dangerous fossil fuel.
Please call your US senators and ask them to offer amendments removing the funding for the rather dirty clean coal projects.
Dirty coal companies are getting a billion dollars through the Department of Energy from the economic stimulus legislation. Department of Energy programs to clean up pollution, on the other hand, are receiving less than half that amount.
