Posted on January 30 2012 by Congress Watcher

The proposal No Labels makes would also reduce the amount of time representatives can listen to voters about budget priorities. That’s fine with the corporate sponsors of No Labels, of course. Their corporations have paid lobbyists who attend special Washington D.C. insider parties in order to get what they want.

Republicans Say They Oppose Debt Ceiling Increase After They Vote For It

Posted on September 14 2011 by Congress Watcher

among those voting for this resolution against the debt ceiling increase are a huge number of Republican U.S. Representatives who, only a little over a month ago voted in favor of the debt ceiling increase. Obama Aligned With Republicans On Budget Deal

Posted on April 15 2011 by Congress Watcher

Obama Sells Out Environment In Budget Deal With Boehner

Posted on April 13 2011 by Congress Watcher

Anti-environment riders in the budget deal agreed to by Obama are not substantially about deficit reduction, because the programs and positions they create are related to only a very small expense. Republicans oppose them because of their contribution to environmental protections, not because of spending issues.

Posted on April 9 2011 by Congress Watcher

The Congressional Budget Office has conducted an analysis of Paul Ryan’s plan to move from Medicare to private, for-profit medical insurance, and concluded that Ryan’s plan would result in almost a 300 percent cost increase for senior citizens, who would go from paying just one quarter of their health care costs to paying almost three quarters of their health care costs.
