It seems that Senator John Thune’s promotion of biofuels has little to do with environmental benefits or for concerns about the cost of energy. Instead, Thune’s biofuels push has to do with bringing government money into his home state, rather than to other places in the USA.

Beat Refineries Into Renewables

One point I’d like to hear more details on from the Cloward campaign: What kind of alternative energy fuels would the refinery produce? Ethanol and other biofuels can burn relatively cleanly, but it still results in carbon emissions just as high as gasoline.
