Which Congressional Caucus Most Strongly Supported Constitutional War Standards in 2011?

Posted on January 2 2012 by Congressional Aid

According to Article I Section 8 of United States Constitution, the Congress and only the Congress is given the authority to declare war. No other person or body in government — not the Supreme Court, not the President — is the authority to do so anywhere in the Constitution. The first war in Iraq, the [...]

Obama Approves Law To Throw Americans In Prison Without Criminal Charge Or Trial

Posted on December 31 2011 by Congress Watcher

When he ran for President in 2008, Barack Obama promised to restore our constitutional rights and the rule of law. He has not done so. In fact, by signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 into law today, Obama has expanded George W. Bush’s attacks on the Constitution.

Constitutional Amendment On Voting And Campaign Finance Proposed

Posted on December 27 2011 by Congress Watcher

Under the proposed amendment to the Constitution, Congress would have the power to create a system for public funding of electoral campaigns, and no funding of campaigns outside that system could take place, and Election Day would become a holiday whenever federal elections take place.

Progressive Caucus Supports 5th and 6th Amendment Rights by Margin of 60-10

Posted on December 24 2011 by Congressional Aid

On December 14 2011, the House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 1540, a bill that violates the 5th Amendment and 6th Amendment rights of people under the Constitution. These Amendments, part of the Constitution’s Bill of Rights, prohibits the government from detaining people without charge forever, without a trial, without being informed of their [...]

Posted on December 24 2011 by Congressional Aid

The Constitution Caucus of the House of Representatives proclaims itself dedicated to keeping congressional action within the bounds of the United States Constitution: “The Constitution is the guide I will never abandon.” — George Washington Recognizing that the Constitution can only be preserved if it lives in the hearts and minds of the American people, [...]

Partial Effort To Reform National Defense Authorization Act Stuck In Committee

Posted on December 21 2011 by Congress Watcher

H.R. 3676 only protects American citizens. It would still leave non-citizens within the United States without the right of due process of law. That is unconstitutional, and unacceptable. Consider how Americans would react if Russia declared that Americans traveling in that country had no right to a criminal trial if accused of a crime. With the National Defense Authorization Act, that’s what the United States has stated about all foreigners traveling, working and living within U.S. borders – they can’t be expected to have their legal rights respected by the U.S. government.

Liberal Protesters Target Susan Davis For Support Of Arbitrary Imprisonment

Posted on December 20 2011 by Congress Watcher

Susan Davis, and far too many of her Democratic colleagues in Congress, have forgotten their oath of office – to defend the Constitution, from enemies both foreign and domestic. The National Defense Authorization Act is in opposition to the authority of the Constitution. Susan Davis had a duty to vote against it. She failed in that duty.

Liberals Splitting From Obama Re-election Campaign Over National Defense Authorization Act

Posted on December 19 2011 by Congress Watcher

The National Defense Authorization Act gives the federal government power to throw Americans into prison for as long as it likes, without criminal trial, and without criminal charge. President Obama has declared his support for this totalitarian provision. As a result, protests against Obama and the Democratic Party have erupted across America.

On Imprisonment without Charge, Trent Franks Read the Constitution, But He Didn’t Hear It

Posted on December 18 2011 by Congressional Aid

On January 6 2011, U.S. Representative Trent Franks participated in a show in the U.S. Capitol Building: the reading of the United States Constitution. Rep. Franks was assigned to read the Fifth Amendment: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a [...]
