Blake Farenthold Takes Money From Lobbyist Firm Executive
U.S. Representative Blake Farenthold has promised to “return the power to states, local governments and most importantly the individual.” A casual reader might assume that when Congressman Farenthold talks about returning power to “the individual” as a general class – all the individual citizens of the United States. There’s another, more realistic, interpretation of Farenthold’s promise, though: That he is working in Washington D.C. to give power to some individuals, to the detriment of other individuals.
Federal Election Commission records reveal that Blake Farenthold has entered into a power relationship with a very interesting sort of individual: The lobbyist sort of individual.
This summer, the Farenthold re-election campaign took money from Ryan Henry. Mr. Henry isn’t one of Farenthold’s constituents. He lives in Washington D.C., not Texas. So why is Ryan giving money to Blake Farenthold?
Ryan Henry is a professional power broker. He’s President of RH Strategies – a lobbying firm. Last year, there were 8 reports of RH Strategies lobbying the federal government on matters related to where the budget allocates spending. This year so far, there are 3 additional such reports.
Will Blake Farenthold come clean and tell voters in the 27th district of Texas what kind of contact he and his congressional staff have had with lobbyist Ryan Henry – or will Farenthold continue to leave his constituents in the dark about this relationship?
