We’ve recently added a function, over in our right hand sidebar, of searching through congressional legislation, either by bill number or by issue keyword (it’s under “search for legislation”). We didn’t get this function through our own programming wizardry. Instead, the legislative search widget is offered by the Library of Congress – and embedding the widget is as easy as cutting and pasting.
There’s one hitch. A year and a half from now, the 112th Congress will give way to the 113th Congress. When that happens, and with every successive new Congress, it will be necessary to replace “112” in the Library of Congress search script with the next largest number (113 for the 113th Congress, 114 for the 114th Congress, and so on).
