Who Had The Decency To Vote Against Patriot Act Extension?

Posted on May 27 2011 by Congress Watcher

Don’t fall for the fear tactics associated with the Patriot Act: The extraordinary, unconstitutional spy powers created by the Patriot Act are almost always targeted against people who are not suspected of any connection to terrorism. Even though the uses of the Patriot Act is a government secret, tens of thousands of abuses of the law’s powers have been documented. The civilian board that’s supposed to oversee the Patriot Act and make sure that it isn’t used against us in ways that violate our constitutional rights has been disbanded.

He says that there are ways the Patriot Act is being applied that he’s been able to learn about as a member of the Senate that would shock the American people, if they knew.

Ron Wyden voted against the extension of the Patriot Act this week, along with 17 other senators. The full list of the names of those in the Senate who had the courage to stand against unconstitutional spying is:

Senator Max Baucus
Senator Mark Begich
Senator Jeff Bingaman
Senator Sherrod Brown
Senator Maria Cantwell
Senator Benjamin Cardin
Senator Patrick Leahy
Senator Jeff Merkley
Senator Jeanne Shaheen
Senator Jon Tester
Senator Mark Udall
Senator Tom Udall
Senator Ron Wyden

You have made some statements that are unproven/unprovable!

“The extraordinary, unconstitutional spy powers created by the Patriot Act are almost always targeted against people who are not suspected of any connection to terrorism. ”

“… tens of thousands of abuses of the law’s powers have been documented. ”

Also, you should note, for the sake of full disclosure, that the 17 courageous Senators your cited are also liberal, progressive, one-world government globalists. All but one is ranked an A- or higher by the Citizens for Global Solutions. They may have a hidden agenda to weaken American’s defenses against terrorism in order to advance their globalist agenda.

These claims are both knowable and sourceable.
