Inhofe Wants To Prevent Americans From Drinking Clean Water
S. 999 takes Republican anti-government ideology to a new low. The legislation, introduced by Senator Jim Inhofe this week, would close down regulations to keep Americans’ drinking water clean, simply because Congress is unwilling provide the funds necessary to enforce the regulations.
It’s the power of Congress to provide funding for worthwhile programs such as clean water enforcement. It’s Jim Inhofe’s job, as a member of Congress, to provide that funding, not just to throw his hands up in the air and declare that Americans are going to have to drink dirty water just because he can’t be bothered to allocate the proper funds.
Four other Senate Republicans have joined Inhofe to sign their names to this dirty water bill. They are: Sen. John Boozman (Republican-AR), Sen. Thad Cochran (Republican-MS), Sen. James Risch (Republican-ID), and Sen. David Vitter (Republican-LA)
