Larry Bucshon Asks For Big Government Interference In Energy Markets
In the abstract, U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon likes to depict himself as a conservative supporter of free markets and freedom from government intrusion in private business. Bucshon claims to support small government, saying, “we need to eliminate overreaching government regulations”.
In actual legislative activity, however, Bucshon is a big supporter of big government intrusion. Bucshon has even proposed his own, new regulations.
Among the Bucshon regulations is the one contained in H.R. 1868, legislation would require that fuel taken from coal be added to jet fuel, fuel for our cars, fuel burning in our homes, and fuel that is used to power boilers in commercial buildings. Never mind if fuel with coal gunk added to it wouldn’t work as well. Never mind if fuel with coal gunk would be sold at increased costs to consumers. H.R. 1868 would force businesses to create fuel with coal gunk added to it, and give Americans no alternative.
That’s the worst kind of regulation, killing a free market in energy for the sake of the profits of one private industry.
Larry Bucshon has signed his name in support of H.R. 1868. It seems that he’ll support big government regulation when his corporate donors ask him to, and oppose it when his corporate donors ask him to.
