Moon Unit in Congress Wants Space Adventures But No Medicare
Spending priorities in the House of Representatives were displayed by last week’s budget votes, which cut spending on domestic economic programs, but were followed up by legislation that seeks to establish yet more spending in other areas. For example, one new piece of legislation, H.R. 1641, would direct NASA to plan an expensive new mission to send rocket ships into space to return to the Moon and establish a permanent human colony there.
The U.S. Representatives who have signed on to support this Moon Colony legislation are: Bill Posey (Republican-FL, District 15), Rob Bishop (Republican-UT, District 1)
Sheila Jackson Lee (Democrat-TX, District 18)
Pete Olson (Republican-TX, District 22)
Frank Wolf (Republican-VA, District 10)
Of this group, only Sheila Jackson Lee only voted against legislation approved by the U.S. House last Friday which, if passed by the Senate and signed by the President, would completely eliminate Medicare.
