House of Representatives:

Homeland Security Committee, Thursday March 31, 10 AM: A hearing on US involvement in the drug war in Mexico, with updates on drug-related violence in Mexico.

Judiciary Committee, Wednesday March 30, 10 AM: The Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee will be holding a hearing on the permanent surveillance provisions of the USA Patriot Act (not the sunset provisions set to be renewed again this May). Notable for a Republican-organized hearing is the presence of Mike German, counsel with the American Civil Liberties Union, on the witness list.

Armed Services Committee, Friday April 1, 9:30 AM: A hearing on the implementation of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

Senate:

Environment and Public Works Committee, Tuesday March 29, 10 AM: A hearing on Disease Clusters and Environmental Health will be held. Yes, Erin Brockovich is set to testify.

Judiciary Committee, Tuesday March 29, 10 AM: The Subcommittee on the Constitution responds to Peter King’s televised examination of an Islamic 5th Column with its own hearing on the issue of protecting American Muslims’ civil rights.

Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Tuesday March 29, 2:30 PM: Another hearing to play up the possibility of “Cyberwar.” All scheduled witnesses stand in favor of changing our laws to combat these “cyberwarriors.”

Homeland Security Committee, Tuesday March 29, 2:30 PM: A hearing on the considerable fiscal problem of cost overruns in the U.S. military budget.

House Judiciary Committee, Wednesday March 30, 10:00 AM: An oversight hearing for the FBI, with Director Robert Mueller testifying.

Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Thursday March 31, 9:30 AM: A hearing to examine developments in traditional hydropower as well as offshore wave-powered turbines.
