Some are calling it the Lummis Work Tax. U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis introduced H.R. 867 this week – a bill that would require Americans to put in 5 years of additional work, just in order to receive the Social Security benefits they’re already entitled to.
Representative Lummis likes to say that she’s against taxes, but why is it that she doesn’t count a law that forces Americans to endure 5 more years of work as a new tax? Time is money, as the old saying goes.
Lummis tells us that there’s just no money available for Social Security, but somehow, last December, she found the money required to give a tax break to millionaires and billionaires. Lummis said that giving this money to America’s financial elites would be an economic stimulus.
Lummis expects us to believe that America’s most wealthy families need a helping hand, while America’s hardest workers need to work even more than they already do. Is that the agenda that the citizens of Wyoming thought they would get when they voted for Lummis back in November?
