Opponent of Climate Action Wins GOP Nomination In Connecticut
Republican Ann Brickley defeated dairy owner Mark Zydanowicz for the Republican nomination to represent Connecticut’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday. Brickley will now struggle to unseat Democratic incumbent John Larson in the general election.
Brickley has been generally vague about environmental issues in her campaign so far, speaking generally about being a gardener. However, Brickley has singled out legislation attempting to control climate change for attack. Brickley says that climate legislation has the “potential to be misused and manipulated.”
The Larson re-election campaign may now be thinking of ways to remind Connecticut voters that, as the gasoline price gouging of 2008 and this year’s Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico illustrate, the old fossil fuel system of energy has shown itself to be quite open to misuse and manipulation itself. Larson serves on the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, and has supported legislation to fight global warming, noting that “far-reaching effects on agriculture and forestry, managed and unmanaged ecosystems, including natural habitats, human health, water resources and sea levels” will be the price of Ann Brickley’s course of inaction.

So far I have not heard anything campaign oriented from Ms Brickley. If she wants to beat John Larson, bring up his voting record. Especially the health care bill, bailouts & stimulus bill. These are what most Americans and people in Ct are against. Remind them everyday how he voted. On voting day have a person at EVERY polling place in the district with a sign pointing out his voting record. Would’nt hurt if a photo of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid were on the same sign. This year is our best chance to get some Republicans elected in CT so she better get to work. Go after Larson in speeches, in debates, adds .
She won’t get elected playing nice and talking about gardening.
