Why Is Manzullo Letting Car Dealers Collect Money For Him?
This Thursday, Congressman Don Manzullo attended a special kind of lunch: A reception in the heart of Washington D.C. at which everyone handed Manzullo money.
Manzullo had arranged for his campaign staff to specifically request that guests at the reception bring money. People representing political action committees were told to bring Manzullo between $1,000 and $1,500 as a cost of participating in the meeting.
The location of the cash-for-Congressman reception is especially interesting. It took place at the offices of the National Auto Dealers Association – the professional lobbying group for car dealers.
Why would this elite organization of car dealers hold a meeting to arrange for people to bring money to Don Manzullo? I don’t have the answer to that question. Don’t you think, though, that the people of Don Manzullo’s district back in Illinois deserve the answer?
