Johnny Isakson Counts Down To Non-Primary With Big Cash Party
In a little bit more than a week, Georgia will have its congressional primary elections. So, elected officials seeking to keep their positions are busy rallying their political resources. That includes Johnny Isakson, who represents Georgia in the U.S. Senate.
Seven days before the primary election, Senator Isakson will be holding the last fundraising dinner for his Georgians for Isakson campaign committee. Where will the dinner be? One might presume that, given that the dinner is held in the name of Georgians for Isakson, the event will take some place in Georgia. That presumption would be incorrect, however.
The title of the event says it all: The Last DC Dinner Before the Primary. Given that the dinner is taking place hundreds of miles away from Georgia, it’s likely that most of the people in attendance won’t be driving in from Georgia that evening.
Indeed, the people attending Senator Isakson’s dinner are more likely than most Americans to have other people drive them around. There’s a price for attending Isakson’s event: $2,000.00. If Senator Isakson were to go back to his home state, where there’s 10.2 percent unemployment, he’d see people living quite differently than the crowd at his Washington D.C. parties.
But then, Johnny Isakson does need to gather support to win his primary election, doesn’t he? Well, actually, he doesn’t. Isakson doesn’t have an opponent in the primary election – but he’s taking money from D.C. big shots anyway.
