Pat Roberts Eats The Sea With Lobbyists Instead Of Fighting Oil Spill
In the two and a half months since the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling disaster began, Senator Pat Roberts has not sponsored a single bill that would help deal with the Gulf oil spill or to prevent future oil spills. Senator Roberts hasn’t even cosponsored a single bill of the sort. It’s the greatest industrial catastrophe in U.S. history, but Roberts hasn’t lifted a finger to work to stop it.
It isn’t that Senator Roberts has been too busy to work on legislation in general. For example, Roberts recently took the time to cosponsor a resolution from Mike Enzi, S. Res. 554, “designating July 24, 2010, as National Day of the American Cowboy.” Roberts thought it was important to deal with the Great Cowboy Crisis before considering action on the Gulf oil spill, apparently.
It’s not fair, though, to say that Senator Roberts hasn’t taken any action on ocean issues. Tomorrow, for example, Roberts plans to attend a special ocean-themed benefit dinner.
Of course, the dinner benefits Pat Roberts himself, not any Gulf shore relief organization. The ocean theme comes only from the food, as the campaign fundraiser is being held at a swanky Washington D.C. seafood restaurant.
Hosting the event, and donating especially large amounts of money to Senator Roberts, are the following: Telecommunications lobbyist Dan Gans, telecommunications lobbyist Bryan Cunningham, AT&T’s political action committee, and the political action committee for CTIA, “the International Association for the Wireless Telecommunications Industry”.
What do you think the chances are that a group of lobbyists and PAC representatives would all just randomly happen to come together to give a lot of money to Senator Pat Roberts tomorrow night?

I didn’t even think he ate seafood. I’ve heard him say many times ” I don’t eat things that go to the bathroom where the live”
Mr Roberts,
I have always voted republican, but have to reconsider now. I need to know that ALL my representatives from Kansas are doing what they can for AMERICA not themselves. I live in MG county and lost my job at the end of the year. I am working part time in Labette County, so about 1/3 of my check goes for gas. I am waiting on an extension for my unemployment while I continually look for a job. Shame on you for delaying this process. If I didn’t have this little part time job, I would be in more trouble than I am in now. My house payment is due and I have termination notices for utilities. We need jobs in Kansas to support the high taxes we pay which I guess go to support your “seafood dinner”. SHAME on YOU. Help the people of Kansas, PLEASE
