Joe Barton’s Tragedy of the First Proportion

Posted on June 18 2010 by Congressional Aid

When you’re a member of Congress who gets more than 15% of your campaign money from the energy industry, what’s the “tragedy of the first proportion” surrounding the unprecedented and ongoing spill of oil into the Gulf of Mexico?

Joe Barton, June 17, 2010:

“I think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation can be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown — in this case a $20 billion shakedown.”

This $20 billion is a fund British Petroleum will set aside to pay for the environmental cleanup of the Gulf of Mexico while the oil spill caused by the BP corporation continues and after it ceases.

Do you think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that BP is being asked to clean up its own mess?

This goes to prove that the GOP and this idiot are totally out of touch with the real world! How do these fools get elected in the first place? Time to clean house. Lets get rid of every jerk who takes bribes, and is bought and paid for by corporate america. Is there such a thing as an honest politician?
