Mark Souder’s Family Values Include Polygamy?
Mark Souder has said that family values are at the core of his work in Congress. His official congressional web site states: “The family plays a fundamental role in our society. Studies consistently demonstrate that it is best for a child to have a mother and father, and I am committed to preserving traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman. The importance of Judeo-Christian values in America cannot be underestimated.”
The details of those Judeo-Christian values were revealed in a rather surprising way today, as Mark Souder announced that he would resign his position in the U.S. House of Representatives. The reason: He’s been having a sexual affair with one of his staffers.
Did Congressman Souder uphold Judeo-Christian values because the staffer was female? Well, certainly the old kings of Israel believed in polygamy. Apparently, marriage the way that Representative Souder was practicing it was in the form of the union of one man with two women.
If Mark Souder is “committed to preserving traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman,” which woman does he mean?
Congressman Souder’s sexual affairs are his own personal business. However, Souder has made his career out of a campaign to deny equal marriage rights to gay and lesbian couples because he doesn’t approve of their particular sexual practices. This agenda will make it particularly difficult for defenders of Souder to proclaim that he has a right to a private sexual life.
Tom Hayhurst is the Democratic Party candidate running for Souder’s seat. His chances of success this year appear to have just dramatically increased. Souder won’t be running for re-election this year.

News reports say that the congressman’s zipper got stuck and his female aide ran smack into him. Continuously. And over a long period of time. It was all just harmless accidents.
Seriously. These family value Congressmen all seem to have the same problem with their zippers.
Of course, liberals aren’t any better at the zipper thing. They just don’t run on a campaign that says “My zipper is always zipped”
