Tom Latham Prepares To Party With Lobbyists
Back in Washington D.C. after a two-week vacation, U.S. Representative Tom Latham is ready to get back to work – or his version of work, anyway. Latham’s version of work involves going to a dinner party where people give him money in exchange for the privilege of sharing his company for an hour or so.
This Wednesday at 6:30 PM, Congressman Latham will meet at a restaurant with representatives of political action committees – organizations that have the mission of influencing politicians with the money they spend. Latham’s re-election campaign sent out invitations to Wednesday’s dinner party that explicitly request representatives of PACs to come to the party with one thousand dollars a piece.
It isn’t just PAC representatives who will be attending the party, and giving money to Representative Lathan, however. Latham’s party is being hosted by three lobbyists. Steve Clark, Gary Lytle, and Sam Geduldig all work for Clark & Associates, where they lobby for clients such as the American Bankers Association, the American Insurance Association, and the Mastercard credit card corporation. What do you think these lobbyists will seek in return for their financial and organizational assistance to Tom Latham’s re-election campaign?
