How is Scott Brown’s Military Roundup Plan for Citizens “Moderate”?
The newspapers call him “Moderate Republican Scott Brown”.
To “moderate” is to deflect the impact of excessive force.
To “moderate” is to keep the exercise of power within a set of limits.
A “moderate” is someone who stands in the way of extreme action.
S. 3081 is a bill put forward with formal support by Senator Scott Brown. It would permit the military to pick up American citizens on U.S. soil (or anywhere in the world). It prohibits American citizens from being informed of their legal rights after being rounded up by the military. It allows the Secretary of Defense or the President to unilaterally determine that a citizen is an “unprivileged enemy belligerent” and to keep that citizen in military lockup, without challenge… forever.
S. 3081 is not a moderate bill that deflects the application of excessive force. It does not keep the exercise of power within a set of limits. It does not stand in the way of extreme action. It approves extreme government action, with excessive force, allowing the exercise of power without limits.
Scott Brown supports this bill.
Scott Brown’s behavior is not moderate.
