West Virginia Tea Party Challenge To Mollohan Fizzles
“The government is cramming health care down our throats,” said R.J. Smith. The complaint may have left many wondering what’s so bad about being provided with medical care when in need. No matter. R.J. Smith forged ahead with his plan to run for the Democratic Party nomination to the House of Representatives against incumbent Alan Mollohan.
Yes, it’s true that Smith, a member of the West Virginia Tea Party, ran for Congress back in 2008, and only received 61 votes. That was just because he didn’t try very hard, R.J. said. This time would be different. This time, he would try his hardest.
This time, R.J. Smith didn’t meet the filing deadline to be recognized as a candidate for the Democratic nomination.
Someone else did make the cut to challenge Mollohan, however. Mike Oliverio qualified to compete in the Democratic primary against Mollohan, but said that the purpose of his campaign is not to criticize Mollohan.
It’s my bet that we can look forward to a good deal of fun in this year’s election in the 1st congressional district of West Virginia.
