Democrats Who Let Lobbyists Put Words In Their Mouths
The New York Times has posted some of the names of 20 Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives who allowed lobbyists to write their speeches against health care reform for them. These speeches were entered into the congressional record. The lobbyists who actually wrote the speeches were working for Genentech, a subsidiary of pharmaceutical corporation Roche, which has a substantial financial interest in blocking health care reform legislation.
The names of most of these 20 Democrats were not listed, but the following five were identified as taking part in the corrupt scheme:
- Bill Pascrell
- Phil Hare
- Robert Brady
- Yvette Clarke
- Donald Payne
