Mike Johanns Supports Health Care Reform for Cows, Not People
Senator Mike Johanns of Nebraska is so strongly opposed to health care reform legislation that when a group of teachers and veterans in favor of health care reform brought him some apple pie, his office called the police to haul them away.
The same Senator Mike Johanns who is so adamantly opposed to health care coverage for humans introduced an amendment this summer to increase federal funding for bovine health care coverage.
Health care coverage for cows, but not for people. What explains this set of priorities? This year to date, Mike Johanns has received seven times as much in PAC contributions as he has from actual people. Four of those contributing PACs have interest in government funding for bovine health care.
Senator Johanns is just following the milk money. If sick humans without health care coverage would send Johanns bigger checks, they might see better results.
