Ed Whitfield Supports Government Health Care for Animals
Kentucky Congressman Ed Whitfield claims to be an opponent of government involvement in health care. “I don’t support government run healthcare,” Whitfield says.
Is it true? Does Representative Whitfield’s record match his claim?
Actually, Ed Whitfield went on the record as supporting government funding for government run health care just two months ago. Whitfield wrote an earmark to provide federal money to cover administrative costs for the Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. That veterinary health care center is operated as part of a government educational institution.
It’s a government run program, and Ed Whitfield sought the government spending to keep it going. Of course, there’s one important difference between Whitfield’s health care legislation and the Democrats’ health care legislation. Whitfield proposes government funding for government run health care for animals, but wants to deny that government funding for government run health care for human beings.
Does Whitfield think that horses deserve better health care than humans? He is from Kentucky, I understand, but even there, I think those priorities would be regarded as rather strange.
