Ted Poe, Tell The Truth About Taxacrats
Yesterday, Texas Congressman Ted Poe made an alarming accusation. He claimed that there is a conspiracy that is trying to destroy small businesses across the United States. The tool of the attack is taxes. Representative Poe calls the conspirators “taxacrats”.
Poe charged: “Some taxacrats wish to tax small businesses into oblivion, the backbone of our country.”
Is it true? Is there a taxacrat conspiracy that is trying to eradicate all the small businesses in the United States? Who are these taxacrats anyway? Are they Democrats in elected office, or are they bureaucrats who work for the government?
If there really is a taxacrat conspiracy that is dedicated to the destruction of all small businesses in the USA, then Congressman Poe had better share the facts of this conspiracy with the FBI, and should ask for a full investigation, issuing subpoenas for witnesses to open congressional hearings.
If, on the other hand, Ted Poe is merely making an accusation without any evidence, he ought to retract his statement immediately. It is thoroughly irresponsible for elected officials to encourage people who believe in exaggerated conspiracy theories about secret plots within the government.
If what Representative Poe really means to say is that he thinks that the wrong sort of taxation can have a detrimental effect on some aspects of small business operations, then he ought to say that. Poe loses credibility when he replaces careful consideration of tax policy with wild accusations of secret conspiracies.
