Ralph Hall’s Green Talk And His Green Inaction
When U.S. Representative Ralph Hall voted against H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act, he said that he did so because the bill “will do little to improve the environment”. It’s true that the legislation was far too weak in dealing with the growing crisis of climate change. But then, Congressman Hall never offered an alternative piece of legislation. In fact, since the time that Hall voted against the American Clean Energy and Security Act, he hasn’t bothered to write one piece of legislation dealing with environmental issues.
“I support more domestic exploration for oil, oil shale and natural gas,” was the statement Representative Hall issued instead of taking action on the environment.
Yes, the American Clean Energy and Security Act does not provide sufficient response to the climate crisis. Ralph Hall’s solution of increasing fossil fuel pollution, however, is even worse. While the American Clean Energy and Security Act moves too slowly, Congressman Hall’s approach would have us walking backwards, away from a solution.
