Vic Snyder, Acronym Hunter!
With all the problems facing the United States of America in 2009, what has Rep. Vic Snyder of Arkansas been up to? He has introduced just one piece of legislation to the 111th Congress: a bill to commemorate the sinking of a boat on the Mississippi River back in 1865. That’s it in terms of legislation.
… but wait! We know that members of Congress do more than write laws and junk like that. They also hold hearings, and when it comes to hearings, Vic Snyder is on the ball! Back in March, Snyder held forth in a hearing on the Defense Department’s system of recordkeeping for health records. Snyder pointed out that when you say “AHLTA” (an acronym for Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application), the sound “does not convey what it means.” Snyder’s position: the military electronic records system should get… a new name!
Hold your applause, please. We wouldn’t want the humble representative from Arkansas to blush.
