Update On Marsha Blackburn Anti-Family Legislation
There’s good news about one of the more radical bills in Congress. H.R. 381, written and introduced by Tennessee’s extremist Representative Marsha Blackburn, is failing to gather additional support.
We explained last week how H.R. 381 would institute serious cuts in early education programs and health care for children, as well as reducing support for hospitals and programs designed to get expectant mothers safely through their pregnancies. I was worried to see that Representative Blackburn had actually found 21 supporters to cosponsor her dangerous bill.
Now, I’m seeing that Blackburn has been unable to gain any additional support. It seems that only a certain cadre of extremists in the U.S. House supports her draconian approach. That’s a good thing, given what’s happening in the economy. The last thing we need now is to see American families with parents who have lost their jobs have to deal with the vicious attack on the social safety net that Marsha Blackburn would unleash.
Here’s a list of the co-sponsors of Blackburn’s anti-family legislation. If one of them is your Representative, please make a call through the congressional switchboard and urge them to rescind support for this bill.
