If Michelle Bachmann is so strongly against taxes, how come she is using taxes to pay for her complaints about how bad taxes are? It seems that Michelle Bachmann likes taxes a lot – just so long as she’ll get to use them for her own personal benefit, to help her get re-elected.

This collection of backwards-thinking members of Congress, numbering 25 including Michelle Bachmann herself, have all signed on as sponsors of the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act. I hereby name them the Dim Bulb Caucus, both on account of their stubborn dedication to wasteful technology and for their dazzling dim-wittedness in ignoring the economic and environmental threats that arise from their efforts to thwart energy efficiency.

A summary of the results of John McCain’s oil scheme:
- You don’t actually pay less for a gallon of gasoline
- The federal budget deficit increases by 10 billion dollars
- Oil companies take the money
- There’s even less gasoline available than before

A special prosecutor would investigate top White House officials, including President Bush, to determine the facts about their role in the organization and implementation of torture. The prosecutor would have the power to demand information and issue subpoenas for White House officials, including the President, to testify under oath. If the White House obstructed the investigation, that in itself would be grounds for impeachment and charges of contempt of Congress.

Susan Collins gets more of this money from war profiteers than anybody else running for election to the Senate in 2008. Senator Collins doesn’t just have blood on her hands. She has blood in her bank account too.

Why would big oil corporations want to help Ron Paul go back to Congress? That answer is an easy one. Ron Paul is a strong opponent of government regulations to restrict the air pollution that comes from burning petroleum products. Senator Cornyn has received $349,780 so far, and there’s a lot of time for even more big checks from the grubby hands of oil company executives.
