Four Senate Democrats Support Bush Plan For Massive Electronic Spying Against You

Posted on January 29 2008 by Congress Watcher

The following four Democratic senators joined George W. Bush and the Senate Republicans to support the push for uncontrollable electronic spying against you by the government: Mary Landrieu, Mark Pryor, Ben Nelson and Blanche Lincoln. These four Democrats deserve to be turned out of office in shame by activists of their own party. They all have a disgraceful history of voting for right wing Republican interests, and against Democratic values over and over again.

FISA Amendments Act Would Allow Internet Spying Against YOU. Say NO Today!

Posted on January 28 2008 by Congress Watcher

Imagine the corporations and the government following every move that you make as you go around the Internet, whether you use passwords to protect your privacy or not. Imagine this taking place without any search warrant, without any judicial review, and without any meaningful congressional oversight. That’s what’s going on, and the Senate is on the verge of making it legal by passing the FISA Amendments Act

Democrat Jim Marshall Votes Against Children’s Health Insurance

Posted on January 26 2008 by Congress Watcher

Congressman James Marshall was the only Democrat in the House of Representatives to vote against children’s health insurance. The only one. In this time of worsening economic crisis, to withhold funding for children’s health insurance is despicable. Jim Marshall has supported special tax breaks for the wealthy, but opposes funding children’s health insurance? Such a position reveals a stunning lack of compassion.

Will Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama Keep Their Commitment on FISA?

Posted on January 24 2008 by Congressional Aid

Senator Hillary Clinton has promised to help support a filibuster of the FISA Amendments Act, a bill which would enable physical and electronic searches without a warrant and also makes challenges to the constitutionality of warrantless searches illegal. Senator Barack Obama has promised to support the filibuster as well. Will they follow through and actually [...]

The Most Alliterative Congressional Blog of 2008

Posted on January 21 2008 by Congress Watcher

Our award for the Most Alliterative Congressional Blog of 2008 goes to… Ditch Mitch, a blog set up by activists who oppose the re-election of Kentucky‘s Republican Senator Mitch McConnell. Goodness me, who wouldn’t be against the re-election of Mitch McConnell to the U.S. Senate this year? Take a look at the legislative rating of [...]

Harry Reid’s New Establishment Antienvironmentalism Blasted By Portfolio

Posted on January 18 2008 by Congress Watcher

Those activists who have argued that the key to solving America’s environmental problems should get the feeling of a cold shower by reading an article about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the new issue of Portfolio. Senator Reid has often been touted as an environmentalist’s friend, but the article starts out with a devastating [...]

Mark Udall Campaigns Against Shifty Schaffer

Posted on January 13 2008 by Congress Watcher

Mark Udall’s opponent, Republican Bob Schaffer, seems to be running on a rickety record of recycled half-truths. He said he was against all taxes, but that wasn’t true. Schaffer lied about his work as a lobbyist. He couldn’t even be truthful on his professional resume.

Good Riddance, John Doolittle!

Posted on January 12 2008 by Congress Watcher

It’s too soon to say for sure who the new Republican nominee to Congress in John Doolittle’s district will be, but one thing’s for sure – the new Republican nominee will serve the same radical agenda, and will protect the same interests as those who backed Representative Doolittle even when he had his hand caught in the cookie jar.

Vote Roy Carter For Congress To End The Waste of Virginia Foxx

Posted on January 11 2008 by Congress Watcher

Representative Virginia Foxx is a showcase of the wasteful borrow and spend Republican mentality. Sure, she talks a lot about reducing the size of government, but then she votes for expensive and wasteful government programs. Take, for example, the earmark she had inserted into congressional legislation: One million dollars for a teacup museum. A museum [...]

Mary Landrieu Corruption Case Reminds Us Of Danger of Right Wing Democrats

Posted on January 10 2008 by Congress Watcher

Getting 2 million dollars in government funds right after making 30,000 dollars in donations to the Senator who arranges the deal – does that look like a bribe to you? It sure looks like a bribe to me. Mary Landrieu is up for re-election to the Senate in 2008, but so far, the Louisiana Democrats have failed to mount any challenge against her for their party’s nomination.
