Last year, a lot of effort was put forward into getting rabid right winger Rick Santorum out of the United States Senate. Good riddance, I say.

Very little thought was given, however, to the kind of person who would replace Senator Santorum: Robert Casey.

Think of Robert Casey as a Republican’s kind of Democrat - that’s what we said before the election. Robert Casey had a nasty habit of supporting extremist right wing causes and playing political footsie with the Religious Right. Too many didn’t pay attention to those details, however. Just slap the name of Democrat on a right wing politician, and they wouldn’t know the difference.

Were we right to be wary of Robert Casey?

Oh, yes. Senator Casey’s legislative record proves it. From his work in the Senate so far, Robert Casey has earned a low, low progressive action rating of just 18 percent. As recorded by the legislative tally kept by Progressive Patriots, if there’s a progressive cause you care about, there’s only an 18 percent chance that Robert Casey will support it.

Robert Casey is doing a great job - for the Republican Party’s agenda - in the United Sates Senate.
