I’m not a big fan of Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat who acts more like a Republican than a Democrat. So, I was disappointed when incumbent Cuellar narrowly beat out the more progressive in the Democratic primary earlier this year. Then, the redistricting of congressional seats in Texas was thrown out in court, and as a result, Ciro Rodriguez has another chance this time running against Republican Henry Bonilla.
My favorite line from Ciro Rodriguez’s YouTube campaign advertisement: “It’s one thing to reach out. It’s another thing to sell out.” That’s a good encapsulation of the difference between the Henry Cuellar kind of Democrat and the Ciro Rodriguez kind of Democrat.
