The primacy of television advertisements is a thing of the past, but ads produced for TV are finding their way online as a new way for candidates to reach a broader audience. Whereas TV ads are fleeting, video advertisements put online allow voters to look at the advertisements at their leisure.
So, YouTube is becoming the campaign tool of choice for congressional candidates in 2006. Over the next few days, I’ll be posting the advertisements of Democratic candidates for Congress here on That’s My Congress, for viewers to see for themselves.
I’ll start with this advertisement from Democrat John Yarmuth, who is running for the House of Representatives in Kentucky. In this commercial, he talks about the “unnecessary” Iraq War, health insurance, and the Republican refusal to raise the minimum wage. Way to pack it in, Mr. Yarmuth!
