Although we here oppose the re-election of Joseph Lieberman, because of Joseph Lieberman’s political alliance with George W. Bush and countless votes against the progressive values that Democratic voters cherish, it is true that not everybody agrees with us. Some people support Joseph Lieberman’s re-election.
So, in an attempt to be balanced, let me point out one of Joseph Lieberman’s big supporters. This supporter stood proudly with Joseph Lieberman on the floor of the United States Senate in condemning Democratic attempts to provide a clear path toward ending the war in Iraq. After Joseph Lieberman spoke, this Senator referred to Joseph Lieberman’s comments and said, “I agree with them wholeheartedly.”
That Lieberman supporter was right wing Republican Rick Santorum.
So, on Tuesday, Connecticut Democrats can choose to stand with Joseph Lieberman if they really want to, but they’ll also be standing right next to raving Rick Santorum.
