Hugh Hewitt writes at the imaginatively named hughhewitt.com:
Mike DeWine has a lifetime American Conservative Union rating of 80….
His opponent, Congressman Sherrod Brown’s lifetime ACU rating is 8, and in 2005 it was 4.
Senator DeWine voted for Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito in the Judiciary Committee and on the floor. He has also voted for every other Bush judicial nominee who faced Leahy-led opposition.
This information leads Hewitt to the conclusion that Mike DeWine is the right choice for U.S. Senate in Ohio, because Mike DeWine is thoroughly and steadfastly pro-Bush and far to the right end of the political scale.
Of course, if you are not yourself thoroughly and steadfastly pro-Bush, and if you are not far to the right end of the political scale, the complementary conclusion is that Mike DeWine is the wrong choice for U.S. Senate in Ohio.
It seems to me there are more of the latter than there are of the former.
